Our journey

We may be only 7 years old, but it’s already been quite a ride. Our first product, the connected Switchee thermostat is already in over 100 of the UK’s biggest housing providers.

Your responsibilities

As Manufacturing Quality Engineer you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of improvements to our quality management practices through field support, technical data analysis and building excellent working relationships with our manufacturing partners . The role combines core operational skills with data analytics, stakeholder management and an ability to solve new and complex operational problems.

A detail oriented, continuous improver mindset is a must with good problem-solving skills. You will play an integral part in the delivery of high quality products to our large social housing customers and the communities they house.

The work will entail close collaboration with other operations functions as well as our Product Engineering Team. It is a time of high growth for Switchee and you will play an important role in supporting the company in improving our future Operations capability.

The role

• Review, and improve Switchee's product quality procedures, standards and specifications.

• Review customer requirements and make sure they are met.

• Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.

• Ensure that manufacturing processes meet international and national standards.

• Find ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency and factory throughput.

• Set-up and maintain controls and documentation procedures internally and with our external partners.

• Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical reports.

• Review existing policies and make suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them.

• Measure performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements.

• Liaise with managers and staff and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.

• Assess the effectiveness of changes made.

• Make sure the company is working as effectively as possible to keep up with competitors.

We are a company built on a strong technical foundation. You’ll need to grasp and effectively manage a range of data sets, technology platforms and organisational complexity. Most importantly you will need initiative and drive.

Requirements

• 2+ years Manufacturing Quality control experience, understanding Quality Control processes and methodologies

• Passionate about reviewing and improving test coverage and the creation of automated and manual tests.

• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and procedures is preferred

• Experience of working with a variety of QE tools.

• Experience with web applications including API testing, database testing, AWS infrastructure.

• Ability to think out of the box with a can-do attitude to get things done efficiently.

• Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts in plain English
