One in five households in the UK live in social housing, a sector with the right values at its core but that has historically struggled to deploy innovations in the home. Many residents still can’t afford to heat their homes and live in cold, mouldy properties they can’t be proud of.

This approach led us to reimagine the most mundane household object - a thermostat - into a product that reduces energy bills, looks great and offers control to those who want it. We are also revolutionising the way social landlords manage their housing stock with an obsessively tailored SaaS property dashboard and handy alerts on things like when the boiler is going to break.

Our next project is to build the ultimate connected hub for the social home. It’s going to revolutionise the way residents interact with their homes and landlords manage their properties.

Our Journey

We may be only 8 years old, but it’s already been quite a ride. Our first product, the connected Switchee Smart Thermostat is already in over 100 of the UK’s biggest housing providers.

We’re growing 100% year on year and are backed by some of the best-known investors in technology and social impact. We are a small team of 70+ passionate and ambitious people driven by a collective desire to make a positive impact in the housing sector, both for residents and landlords.

The role

We are looking for a product manager with a background in B2B SaaS and/or internal tools. As a product manager in Switchee’s product team, you will have responsibility for product strategy across:

1. Our internal tools to support the distribution, installation, and support of our IoT devices

2. Our mobile app for residents to pair with our devices that allows them to control their heating and scheduling

3. Other areas of the product to gain more exposure to the product lifecycle

You will report to the Head of Product and work with our other product managers and engineers to execute on the strategy.

You will work closely with our operations teams, customers, product marketing and commercial teams and engineering leads to surface the needs of our users; build consensus around product direction; set and prioritise product objectives; test hypotheses and use data to measure the success of our products and features; map and evolve our overall service offering; and ultimately consolidate learnings and repeat.

We are at the cutting edge of social housing adoption of new technologies and operating models, helping landlords proactively address issues such as mould and damp and playing a critical role in getting the sector to net zero carbon emissions.

Switchee operates a small, close-knit team with a big job to do so you'll be expected to roll-up your sleeves and get stuck in!

Your responsibilities

• Develop and execute product strategies aligned with Switchee’s goals.

• Identify and prioritise user needs and advocate for a great user experience.

• Manage the product development lifecycle and work effectively with agile teams.

• Clearly convey product vision and progress to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Use data and analytics to make informed decisions and track success metrics.

• Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

• Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and act on user feedback.

Who You Are

We're looking for 2+ years of previous experience in building a cloud, B2B product, or internal tools, ideally with some knowledge of social housing / energy / sustainability.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

• At least 2 years product management experience

• Experience managing complex B2B SaaS products, including SaaS UX design

• Excellence in prioritising the use of limited resources for maximum effect

• Excellent listening, communication and persuasion skills

• Experience with product technology for effective communication with development teams.

• Strong data analytics skills and an analytical mind

• The drive to take ownership and be comfortable with ambiguity. You provide clarity and make things happen

Bonus points for:

• Experience managing a product through its entire life cycle, from discovery and specification through to sunsetting

• Experience with technical products and/or writing specifications as a business analyst

• Some exposure to service design

• Experience building IoT products and data science-driven products

• Some exposure to UX & UI design

• Knowledge of some/all of the social housing sector, energy sector, sustainability and heating systems

• Proven ability to get up to speed quickly in a complicated domain

• Degree in a numerate discipline

These are ideal but not required - we don’t expect any candidate to tick all these boxes and will happily consider applicants who we believe can successfully grow into the role.

Previous experience could include: Business Analyst, Product Manager, Product Owner.
