Our Mission
At Switchee, we believe that everyone deserves to live in a decent home and that the environments we inhabit have a massive influence on our ability to enjoy life and prosper. One in five households in the UK live in social housing, a sector with the right values at its core but that has historically struggled to deploy innovations in the home. Many residents still can’t afford to heat their homes, and live in cold, mouldy properties they can’t be proud of.
We believe that radical innovation in internet-connected technology can ensure that every resident, every day, is living in a home that allows them to succeed. That’s why our products are built not just on great technology, but on an understanding of what people want from the space they live in.
This approach led us to reimagine the most mundane household object: the thermostat, into a product that automatically reduces energy bills, looks great, and offers control to those who want it. We are also revolutionising the way social landlords manage their housing stock with an obsessively tailored SaaS property dashboard and handy alerts on things like when the boiler is going to break.
Our goal is to perfect the ultimate connected hub for the social home. It’s going to revolutionise the way residents interact with their homes and landlords manage their properties.
The Role
We are looking for a Data Analyst to join Switchee’s growing Data team, help to build out our Business Intelligence platform, and contribute directly to the development and improvement of our insights and analytics.
Data is critical to Switchee’s future. The insights we generate help tenants in social housing save money and energy and live more comfortably. They also help social landlords manage their properties more effectively so they can increase their reach, helping more people and targeting their resources most effectively.
We are at the cutting edge of social housing adoption of green technologies, playing a critical role in getting the sector to net zero carbon emissions. A key goal of the Data team is to use data to clearly tell the stories that enable tenants to understand their energy usage and to deliver the nudges that help them use their heating systems efficiently. This will save them money while also reducing their carbon footprint.
In all of this you’ll be turning data into insights and clear actions that we can deliver to the right people, driving real changes of outcome in the world around us. You will report into the Data Lead, and will work day-to-day with our Product and Customer Success teams.
Your Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities include the following:
Work closely with the Product and Customer Success teams to understand and fulfil client-specific data analysis requests and product ideas.
Perform data exploration and analysis to validate, or otherwise, these requests and ideas.
Development of standardised Business Intelligence reports and Data Analytics solutions that can be rolled out to Switchee’s full client base.
Present technical work to a variety of internal stakeholders, including training where required.
Use your knowledge of Switchee and social housing to provide context and explanation around your analysis to engage our stakeholders by telling narratives uncovered in the data that answer their use cases.
Assist with Data Science projects, such as the development and validation of new algorithms and insights.
Ensure best practice is followed with all of your work, such as maintaining good standards of documentation.
Proactively identify opportunities to add value to Switchee and our clients through your work with our data and conversations with different stakeholders.
Who You Are
These are ideal but not required as we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. We promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture at Switchee:

Deep experience and expertise with BI/ Data Visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Experience in a consultancy or client-facing role that involved working directly with end stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that answer their problems.
Demonstrated strength in using data to tell compelling stories (e.g. in documents, presentations and infographics).
Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).
Experience with IoT devices and sensor data.
Proficiency in Python and experience in using common data libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy).
Familiarity with the Social Housing sector and the challenges faced there.
