The recruitment timeline
Application received
As soon as you send in your job application, we get notified and the process starts! It takes us time to review each application carefully (we read all cover letters and answers)!
Video or phone screening call
If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to an initial phone or video call. This is where a member of our People Team will introduce you to Switchee, including our business, product, and the specific role. We’ll also briefly review your skills and experience, which might involve one or two competency-based questions.
This is a chance to put your best foot forward!
Top tip: make sure you have a good understanding of the job description & a little about Switchee as a business.
This is a two-way street, so it's important you ask us questions too :)
For certain roles, you may be invited to complete an online assessment following a successful initial conversation. These assessments, which typically take 30 to 45 minutes, are to be completed within a few days after receiving the invite.
Technical interview
This stage is a competency-based interview. Here's where you'll meet the hiring manager (typically, the hiring manager will be directly managing you), and a member of the wider relevant team!
These take between 45min to 1hr depending on the role and are almost always done virtually. You can expect the interviewers to ask skills and scenario-based questions in relation to the responsibilities in the job description.
This is a two-way street, so it's important you ask us questions too :)
Task & presentation
This part of the interview process (only applicable to some roles) is the time to put those skills into practice!
We tend to set scenario-based tasks relevant to the role applied for.
During this time, our Talent Manager will be on hand to answer questions!
These are typically held virtually and by the hiring manager and a wider member of the relevant team!
Culture interview
This is the final interview stage in the process. And so important for both Switchee and YOU!
We're looking for a mix of culture fit (i.e. do you align with the values) and culture add (i.e. do you bring something to Switchee that we don't have)
This stage typically lasts 45 minutes and is with our Head of People and a wider member of the team, normally we would add someone who you would collaborate closely with in another team, or someone from the department relevant to the role that you haven't met yet!
Top tips:
Be yourself!
Think of some company culture-related questions to ask, what is important for you? Do you have any non-negotiables regarding the next company you're looking to work for?
Offer/Hire
WOO! You got offered the role!
Here's what you can expect from us during the offer and hiring process:
- Verbal offer
- Written offer
- Accept/decline
- Pre-Onboarding materials and communication from our Talent Coordinator!
Candidate experience makes us better
We believe in the power of feedback and collect candidate eNPS scores from every person who makes it through the screening stage.
We offer all an opportunity to score us on a scale of 1-10 and share what they liked or didn’t like about their experience. We review all feedback, follow up where needed, and take action to address concerns.
In 2024, our candidate experience scored an average of 7 out of 10. While this is a strong foundation, it highlights opportunities for improvement, and we remain committed to refining our process to deliver an even better experience for future applicants.
In 2023, we were proud to be nominated for the Recruitment & Retention Campaign of the Year—a true testament to our commitment to creating a supportive and engaging workplace.
Building on that momentum, we’re thrilled to share that in 2024, we’ve been nominated for the Diversity in Tech Award at the Tech Impact Awards—a celebration of our ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and innovation!
